Style Icon: Taylor Momsen
17 Dec
Hi, it’s Hannah here, and this is the first of my weekly ‘Style Icon’ posts! I’m so excited! There’ll be a new one every Tuesday profiling a different style icon, varying from the popular to the unknown. You won’t want to miss it! If you ever have any suggestions just leave it in the comments section on the latest ‘Style Icon’ post and, who knows, I may be posting about your own style icon very soon!
When I decided to do these posts I knew straight away who I wanted to be my first – Taylor
Momsen! I know not all of you will agree, but this girl has to be my number one style icon by a mile! She’s only 16 yet so mature and stylish, and definitely one of a kind. I don’t know any other starlets with the same edgy, punky, grunge/slightly gothic inspired look as her. She’s even inspired the transformation of her on screen counterpart, Gossip Girl’s Jenny Humphrey. She refuses to use a stylist unlike most other celebrities and expresses herself with lots of leather, lace, stockings, prints, killer shoes and lashings of attitude.
She’s not afraid to experiment with her clothes or her makeup, always choosing dramatic smokey eyes or blood red lips over a natural fresh faced look. Yes, sometimes she does go a little too far with her fashion choices and makes the odd mistake, but she’s a risk taker and dares to stand out. So in my opinion no matter what she throws together she always looks incredible!
Unfortunately she has a lot of critics out there who like to brand her ‘a bad influence’ and call her outfits ‘too revealing’ and ‘too mature’ for her age. I know she’s only 16, but stop comparing her with Disney darlings such as Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez. She isn’t the same! We should be applauding her for her uniqueness and for inspiring young girls to be themselves & break the mold.
She’s not just a pretty face but multi-talented too; a successful actress and also a musician. This year she formed her own band called ‘The Pretty Reckless’ which she fronts and also writes all the songs for – they’ve been signed by Interscope records and an album should be out at the start of next year. Yet, despite her talents, she’s not fame hungry like other celebs and shies away from the spotlight. She doesn’t care what anyone thinks, she’s just being herself, and I love that about her!

I came acrossthis browsing goth culture! This post for sure has a nice consideration on google also if it wasn’t actually the things i was struggeling searching
