Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart at “The Runaways” Premiere!

12 Mar

Yesterday (11/03/2010), child stars Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart premiered their long awaited movie, “The Runaways”  in Hollywood. The film tells the story of Joan Jett and the first female rock band, The Runaways. Among the attendees were teen heartthrob Taylor Lautner, Cherie Currie and Joan Jett herself made it out to the premiere! I’m sure having three of the cast of Twilight within one vacinity drove fans crazy.

Dakota Fanning looked angelic and cute as ever in a silver, glittery dress. I really like the top of the dress, the sheer material with the silver detailing around the shoulders saves this dress from being a boring strapless dress. I also really like the shape of the dress, its very age apropriate and princessy, yet still stylish. I am disappointed by Dakota’s shoes, I wish she took a less boring aproach.

Kristen Stewart has me gobsmacked, she is in a hot pink mini dress. What the? The dress on its own is very cute but I’m not sure if I like it on Kristen. It makes her look a little bit sick because she’s so pale. On a good note, it does fit her well which is a nice change and she does seem comfortable in it. I just wish I could teach her how to pose. Kristen was also very disappointing with her choice of shoes. Had she replaced her black peeptoe’s with nude peeptoe’s her look may have flowed a bit better. I like the pink blush on her its very cute!

Laila’s Worst Dressed at the Oscar’s!

8 Mar

Lucky for me this year, there were hardly any reality TV stars on the Red Carpet so this makes the Worst Dressed list very short.

It kills me to say that Mariah Carey was one hot mess last night. Her entire look is just wrong. The dress doesn’t seem to fit her well around the bust and the cap sleeves are droopy. The slit in the leg and the brooch just give the entire look a 80′s feel. Then there is that hair which again screams “hi, I’m Mariah and I’m stuck in the 80′s”. Then we have the Louboutin nude heels which are hugely inappropriate because they have a gold hint to them and her accessories are all white gold and silver. Mariah Carey definitely needs a new stylist, she has been sporting the same look since 1980 and it’s just such a shame.

Mo’Nique was a winner last night but I felt she could have done a lot better with her choice of attire. The blue gown does nothing for her figure and the way the gathered detailing cuts off right above her hips accentuates how broad she is. Then there is the unfortunate slicked back hair and the random flower. I would have loved to see Mo’Nique in more of a floaty look. But I’d just like to say I am so thrilled that she won in her category, she certainly deserved it. Congratulations Mo’nique!

Sarah Jessica Parker made me want to cry. Her choice of gown really disappointed me from top to bottom. The Chanel gown just looks shapeless to me and the satin will probably give me nightmares. I’m not sure why SJP had her hair up either. It was like a big booffy Texas prom queen hair do with lots and LOTS of fly aways and to top it all off she was orange. I’m usually such a huge fan of Sarah’s choices but this was a big miss for me unfortunately.

Last but certainly not least was surprisingly Charlize Theron. This was the biggest “what the” moment for me. The usually flawless actress wasn’t so flawless in her Christian Dior gown. I felt as though the colour really washed her out and the fabric of the gown was just too heavy which made it unflattering. Her make up didn’t mesh well with the dress and the dress hadn’t been ironed. This is probably Charlize Theron’s only ever “blah” moment. It’s surprising because she is usually such a stand out at the Oscars.

On the up side there weren’t that many Red Carpet tragedies this year. On the down side, it was quite disappointing to see such amazing actresses mess it up for the big show. Hopefully next year they will bring it!

Laila’s Best Dressed at the Oscar’s!

8 Mar

The Oscar’s are always a delight to watch mainly because of the beautiful exhibition of clothing that we at home get to feast our eyes on. I have been looking forward to this event and it certainly did not disappoint. There were so many beautiful looks last night so I will do my best not drone on about every single one!

My favourite look of the entire evening was Zoe Saldana’s purple Givency Couture gown. WOW WOW WOW WOW. By far the standout of the evening for me. The sparkly bodice and the ruffled detailing at the bottom of the dress would have intimidated most, but Zoe pulls this off easily. Her hair and make up were perfect!

Nicole Richie looked absolutely breath taking in a Reem Acra gown. This dress was unlike anything on the Red Carpet last night, it was so original and absolutely stunning. I love the long bat wing sleeves and the sexy low back.

Anna Kendrick was pretty in pink in her Elie Saab gown. This gown is so perfect for the event and it suits her so much. The colour and the floaty style of the gown makes Anna look so soft and angelic. An amazing choice and after all, a Red Carpet is incomplete without Elie Saab.

I can’t believe I am saying this but finally Miley Cyrus has managed to get on a best dressed list. YES she was glowing on the Red Carpet in a beautifully sparkling Jenny Packham gown. I love everything about this look, the dress is so perfect on her, her make up is to die for and her hair is stunning. She finally did it!

Rachel McAdams was another celebrity who supported Elie Saab on this occasion. The starlet opted for a very colourful yet earthy look. I love the sweetheart neck line and then the full skirt. She reminds me of some otherworldly creature in this look because the colours are just so lovely. She is a vision!

It wouldn’t be a Red Carpet if Demi Moore wasn’t there to make everyone green with envy. The flawless actress looked incredible in a blush toned Atelier Versace gown. I love everything about this look.

Sandra Bullock sparkled in Marchesa. She completely aced the old hollywood glamour look and the gown really compliments her figure. I am so glad that she looked so good during her shining moment. Congratulations Sandy!

For my very last mention I am really surprised and I’m sure you will be to. I can’t believe I am actually saying this but Kristen Stewart made my jaw hit the floor when I saw her in her custom made Monique Lullhier gown. Although some might think this is typical K Stew, dark and moody, I beg to differ. The gathered details on the bodice and waistline are to die for, the skirt and shape of the dress give Kristen a BODY and for once, the dress actually fits her. She is carrying herself well and I think this is the best Kristen has ever looked. It seems like she is finally coming to terms with her fame and fortune. I love this gown so much, I love her hair and make up. I love how she isn’t slouching, maybe next year we might get a smile out of her!

Strapless gowns seemed to be very popular among the ladies this year. I wonder what next year will bring.

Leighton Meester Performs at Haze!

7 Mar

On the 6th of March 2010 Leighton Meester rocked Haze nightclub in Las Vegas. The gorgeous actress and singer hosted her “Good Girls Go Bad Party” and performed for the crowd.

Throughout the evening she wore two outfits which were entirely different but looked amazing on her.  She arrived wearing a Herve Leger Spring 2010 dress with peep-toe booties. The dress gives her petite figure an incredible silhouette and the structured sleeves accentuate her perfectly hourglass figure. I am SO glad she opted for the quirky little booties, anyone else would have gone for boring black pumps. The boots complete her look making it very edgy and rebellious.

Her second outfit was for her performance and she looked so cute!  She wore a black cropped top over leather leggings with the most adorable sneakers. I just love how she went for this fun, comfortable and laid back look, most performers her age go for soultry, sexy, very predictable looks so this is refreshing and she just looks like she is having the best time!

As usual hair is perfect, make up is flawless, I can’t wait to see what Leighton decides to wear to the Oscar’s. At this event she managed to incorporate the “Good Girls Go Bad” theme to both her outfits while looking very beautiful, not over doing it and having a great time. Here at TWiBRITY, we love Leighton.

Nicole Richie Dazzles Montblanc Charity Cocktail Party

7 Mar

Nicole Richie was set to bring a classic aww struck feel for party goers last night as she & Joel Madden attended the Montblanc Charity Cocktail party hosted by the Weinstein company to benefit UNICEF at Soho House in West Hollywood.

Nicole looked ravishing and effortlessly stunning. I have always loved how she plays with her images and style but this by far the most sophisticated and beautiful she has ever looked. She is naturally beautiful and the brunette change must have triggered something that added even more it. Classy and haunting in a long silk blue dress. She looked like a star from the 40s. Go Nicole!!

25th Film Independent Spirit Awards

7 Mar

On the 5th of March, The 25th Film Independent Spirit Awards were held in the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. The event was flocked with celebrities and there were so many stunning looks on the Red Carpet.

My favourite look of the night goes to Olivia Wilde. She wore a gorgeous neutral tone dress from Ralph Lauren Fall 2009. I LOVE this look on her, its so relaxed and earthy and is really different to the looks she usually goes for. Olivia is so beautiful and this dress really suits her.

Maggie Gyllenhaal totally blew me away with her look. Her Lanvin dress sits on her perfectly and she just looks so sexy. Usually I would be furious about the tights but on this occasion it works somehow. Obviously Maggie didn’t want to look too exposed.

Vera Farmiga looked stunning in a modified Marchesa dress. The stunning actress looked so feminine and sultry in the dress. I love the colour of the dress against her skin and I really like how she styled her hair and make up in a way that didn’t take any attention away from her dress. Stunning.

Another look that I really loved belongs to Zoe Kravitz. This event is quite relaxed and her boho style went perfectly with the vibe. Her Chloe dress is so simple and stunning. I love how soft and angelic she looks.

Check out our gallery to see more celebrities and more stunning looks from the event!

Ok! Magazine Oscar Party

7 Mar

Last night Ok! magazine hosted their annual Oscar party in Los Angeles. Ironically, their were no real A Lister’s in attendance, it was mostly TV personalities, models and a few D list celebrities. To be honest I was expecting more.

The highlight of the event for me was seeing Hollywood’s latest gem Quinton Aaron so comfortable on the Red Carpet. I was also really pleased to see Keri Hilson and Marisa Miller looking so fierce out there! They seem to be the only two ladies who looked in the mirror that night, and even then I was slightly bored with Marisa’s look.

Other “celebrities” in attendance were, Kendra Wilkinson, Jessica Lowndes,Isabella Miko, Amanda Righetti and Audrina Patridge.
Yawn.

As the 82nd Academy Awards come closer I thought I would post my picks and favourites for the Oscars. I am a total film junky, I love movies and I have seen all of the movies which are  nominated.

I personally hope that “Avatar” wins however I will be really pleased if either “Precious” or “The Blind Side” take the award home.

Now that I’m done picking and choosing I just have to wait for the actual event to happen to find out who the lucky winners are. I am so excited for the Red Carpet to see who wears what, there were so many beautiful looks in fashion week which I am sure will pop up.

A Star Studded Red Carpet at JC Penney’s Best of Spring Showcase

3 Mar

Last night at the Lincoln Centre in New York, celebrities flocked the Red Carpet for JC Penney’s best of spring showcase which was hosted by Rocsi Dia.

Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen were the highlight of the evening, both of them attended the event wearing black from head to toe. Usually this would bother me as people like to say its the “safe rout” but MK and Ashley look perfect! I love how they are dressed similarly but look so different. I love Ashley in that sheer dress, the belt adds a rough touch to the feminine look, and Mary Kate looks so chic in her blazer dress with those booties! Love love love these girls so much they always look phenomenal and dress apropriately for the occasion.

The beautiful Cindy Crawford strutted her stuff in a figure hugging LBD which I’m sure has made women everywhere green with envy. The woman does not age! She looks fabulous in her little black dress and I love that she didn’t go for boring black pumps and chose something different. My only criticism is for the unfortunate earrings and her hair. I dont like the gold earrings with her dress and half up hair is a bit too cutesy for my liking but other than that, gorgeous.

Other celebrities in attendance were the likes of Gossip Girl’s Michelle Trachtenberg, Melissa George, Ali Hilfiger and Cory Kennedy. I thought it was a nice mix and variation on the Red Carpet. No one looked particularly boring and it was a nice mix of people.

“Remember Me” buzz hits NY!

2 Mar

1

On the 1st of March, teen heartthrob Robert Pattinson and his co star Emilie De Ravin  hit the Red Carpet in New York for the premiere of their movie “Remember Me”. While many twilight fans are disappointed to see Pattinson in a role other than the chiseled Vampire “Edward Cullen” movie critics are desperate to see how Pattinson performs in a role of true love.

Ofcourse Robert had his usual scruffy hair, but he appears to have washed it which is an amazing effort on his behalf. Co star Emilie wore a cream one shoulder mini dress which would have been better had she paired it with different shoes. I feel as though the details on the hem of the dress are very attention grabbing and her attempt at being edgy with the shoes that look like she made herself turned the look into a disaster. She accesorized with gold bangles and swept her hair back to complete the look. Unfortunately I don’t think this style of dress particularly suits Emilie’s body shape, it accentuates her broad shoulders and doesn’t seem to sit right around the bust. Hopefully she will come up with better looks for the upcoming premieres for the movie.
3

Rob’s rumoured on again off again girlfriend and co star Kristen Stewart also graced the Red Carpet at this event which I’m sure created quite a buzz for all those twihards! I’m not really sure what to say about her outfit because I don’t feel as though there is any good material there. It’s disappointing because she was doing so well! I guess her and Emilie will just have to work harder for next time. I hope they do!

 2

The movie is a romantic drama and alongside Robert and Emilie, superstar Pierce Brosnan plays Robert’s father. I’m really excited to see how it turns out and how Rob does without Kristen.
