Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart at “The Runaways” Premiere!

12 Mar

Yesterday (11/03/2010), child stars Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart premiered their long awaited movie, “The Runaways”  in Hollywood. The film tells the story of Joan Jett and the first female rock band, The Runaways. Among the attendees were teen heartthrob Taylor Lautner, Cherie Currie and Joan Jett herself made it out to the premiere! I’m sure having three of the cast of Twilight within one vacinity drove fans crazy.

Dakota Fanning looked angelic and cute as ever in a silver, glittery dress. I really like the top of the dress, the sheer material with the silver detailing around the shoulders saves this dress from being a boring strapless dress. I also really like the shape of the dress, its very age apropriate and princessy, yet still stylish. I am disappointed by Dakota’s shoes, I wish she took a less boring aproach.

Kristen Stewart has me gobsmacked, she is in a hot pink mini dress. What the? The dress on its own is very cute but I’m not sure if I like it on Kristen. It makes her look a little bit sick because she’s so pale. On a good note, it does fit her well which is a nice change and she does seem comfortable in it. I just wish I could teach her how to pose. Kristen was also very disappointing with her choice of shoes. Had she replaced her black peeptoe’s with nude peeptoe’s her look may have flowed a bit better. I like the pink blush on her its very cute!

Leighton Meester Performs at Haze!

7 Mar

On the 6th of March 2010 Leighton Meester rocked Haze nightclub in Las Vegas. The gorgeous actress and singer hosted her “Good Girls Go Bad Party” and performed for the crowd.

Throughout the evening she wore two outfits which were entirely different but looked amazing on her.  She arrived wearing a Herve Leger Spring 2010 dress with peep-toe booties. The dress gives her petite figure an incredible silhouette and the structured sleeves accentuate her perfectly hourglass figure. I am SO glad she opted for the quirky little booties, anyone else would have gone for boring black pumps. The boots complete her look making it very edgy and rebellious.

Her second outfit was for her performance and she looked so cute!  She wore a black cropped top over leather leggings with the most adorable sneakers. I just love how she went for this fun, comfortable and laid back look, most performers her age go for soultry, sexy, very predictable looks so this is refreshing and she just looks like she is having the best time!

As usual hair is perfect, make up is flawless, I can’t wait to see what Leighton decides to wear to the Oscar’s. At this event she managed to incorporate the “Good Girls Go Bad” theme to both her outfits while looking very beautiful, not over doing it and having a great time. Here at TWiBRITY, we love Leighton.

Help for Haiti Continues

7 Feb

3

On the 5th of February, more of Hollywood’s heavyweights got together for another Help for Haiti charity concert. The BET-SOS Saving Ourselves Help for Haiti Benefit Concert was held at the AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami.

Sean Diddy Combs, Pharell Williams and Queen Latifah hosted the concert which included big names such as; Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Wyclef Jean, Mary J Blige, Keri Hilson, Akon, Ludacris, Monica to name a few and former president Bill Clinton also rose to the occasion by giving one of his inspirational speeches.

2

All the musicians  involved showed a huge amount of enthusiasm towards the cause. There were a couple of firsts aswell, we saw Sean Diddy Combs singing alongside teen phenomenon Justin Bieber and Sean Kingston at one point which is not something we see every day!

Following the concert, a telethon was held where even more huge names from Hollywood showed their support to the people of Haiti by taking donations at the phone bank.

4

I think it’s safe to say that all those involved are setting a great example for the steps that need to be taken in order to help the people of Haiti that are so in need right now. To any of our readers who would like to donate, visit www.unicef.org and make a difference.

14 Dec

Kelis-Acapella-Song

The original R&B/Pop infused Harlem-raised “I Hate You So Much Right Now” Misfit KELIS is back!

With a new look (which I must say is extreme..but this is the reason why fashionitas love her) and a new sound – electronica/trance-inspired number “Acapella” is sure to be her bid back into the musical industry before her forth album, titled (as of now) “Flesh Tones” is released.

Lady Gaga: The Fame Monster

28 Nov

gagacover

At first I couldn’t stand her at all. I mean take away all the makeup, wigs, off the wall costumes, and her gay pandering, and all you have is a plain Jane with moderate talent. HOWEVER, She has very slowly started to grow on me thanks to the single and video for Bad Romance. The song is smokin hot and the video is amazing thanks to the brilliantly talented director Francis Lawrence. There are a couple standout tracks from the album such as Dance in the Dark, Speechless, and Telephone with Beyonce. Worst, by far, is the song  Alejandro, which sounds like it would have been left off Ace of Base’s The Sign. Overall its a good listen if you’re in a party mood. I am kind of hoping she turns out to be a passing trend, though it seems like she’s not going anywhere.

The Fame Monster, Comes as an addition to her previous number one release The Fame, Which gave us the infectious Poker Face, Lovegame, and, Paparazzi. With The Fame, Gaga stepped into the ring with the likes of  Britney, Beyonce, and Rihanna to compete for the crown of number one diva.  Her debut album is a fresh, exciting dance album and took the music world by storm, for better or for worse. The lead single, Just Dance, was a great indicator of Lady GaGa’s  ability to create an earworm (one of those songs you cant get out of your head no matter how hard you try).

The Fame Monster, is an inspiring addition to an already great dance album, but in my opinion should have been released as its own album with a few additional tracks. Bottom line, I suggest you get used to Lady G,  because she refuses to be ignored. Thanks to the new dance jams, I am growing more and more fond of her and I’m curious as what the future holds for the controversial diva.

Rihanna’s Wait Is Over!

28 Nov

rihanna-new1

It’s official. The wait is over for Rihanna. or maybe just the “weight” of what she has been struggling with personally and artistically through the last year. A video that translates in the most raw visual the sentiments of the lyrics & the dark/gritty in your face statement in which Rihanna is empowered. She is basically at a point where she does not need gimmicks, she does not need backups. She is strong, confident, beautiful, & a heroine all by herself.

Rihanna’s performance of this particular song is vocally overwhelming. Her attitude is strong but not offensive though some fans might have a difficulty with her being “a fucking lady”.

I was watching the video with my best friend film-maker/art director Phaedra, and she drew my attention to a deeper meaning behind the visual of the video. Phaedra says” The video was shot to emphasis clearly what she’s trying to say. The angles that were used to shoot the video were sharp, straight forward, & not depended on a director trying to flex his technical muscles. It depends on deep understanding of the meaning which gave a bigger & more meaningful perspective for the lyrics.”

Rihanna’s costumes changed various times though depended solely on the main theme of strength. Her body language was emphatic & powerful. Eye contact with the camera was piercing. Ultimately, Rihanna has grown & released herself from any expectations other than what she expects from herself.

Empire State Of Mind Part II

This is dreamy, soothing, and haunting. Makes your heart skips a beat for New York. And as much as the version with Jay Z will get you crunk, this wins it all in my book.

Janet’s Back In Control

23 Nov

janet

This week Janet Jackson released her first ever collection of number one singles. The body of work is untouchable. Janet’s music, videos, and live performances have forged the way for countless artists and with the release of Number Ones, we are reminded why we all fell in love with Miss Jackson.  The presentation of the collection however, is disappointing to say the least, but I will get to that later.

The Two-disc collection chronicles her incredible journey, with number one singles from her breakout album, Control to her latest album Discipline. The collection also includes some of her most famous duets including Scream with her brother Michael and What’s it Gonna Be!? with Busta Rhymes, not to mention the fresh new single and video,  Make Me.

For the younger generations, who may be in the dark as to how fantastic Miss Jackson is, this is the perfect starter kit to get familiar with one of the greatest pop divas of all time. With singles such as: Miss You Much, That’s the Way Love Goes, Got ’til it’s Gone, All Nite (Don’t Stop) and the latest number one, Feedback, this collection is an absolute crowd pleaser.

Now, to the negative. This is a great collection of music, but the presentation is lackluster. In my opinion the cover art looks cheap and the photo is a bit on the boring side. For an artist of this magnitude the presentation of the collection should be as great as the content. In this case it is not, and it would have been nice if there were some bonus features like a concert DVD or SOMETHING. That being said it is wonderful to have these hits together on a collection! Janet Jackson is back ladies and gents, and she’s back to stay.
