LaChapelle shows off his visual effects skills in a lot of the above artwork. His ability to manipulate an image is often his secret to create the ‘magic’ in his photographs. I think the post production/retouching on Gaga’s face/body does seem a little extreme in areas but it does show her off in a very flattering light which is the clear purpose of these photos. I have to give LaChapelle and team credit for the photos, I am a big fan of his trademark human/nude compositions and subtle ambient lighting in ‘City Gaga’ – By the looks of it ‘Ransom Gaga’, was shot on the same day.

I think ‘Fallen out of Wheelchair Barbie Gaga’ is a great representation of her life right now; Gaga being the product of someone else’s creation in a blossoming false reality. ‘Volcano Gaga’ featuring Kanye West is an interesting juxtaposition but also quite confusing, Gaga looks helpless and quite innocent for once in the strong arms of Kanye whilst an volcano erupts behind them? Oo-er.

To celebrate the new campaign, David LaChapelle’s “Bliss Amongst Chaos” party / after party last night at the Raleigh Hotel was definitely the place to be if you’re anything like me and like diving off ice sculptures into swimming pools.
